Pierce Street Art is pleased to announce its fall group show “Cross Current,” featuring the work of Shawn Ballarin, Baylee Bennett, Mina Bolduc, Sarah Craw, Taylor Daniels, LJ De La Cruz, Hannah Demma, Lizz Dyer, Kim Goldberg, Frank Hiffernan, Beverly Hill, Kelsey Janda, Courtney Kenny Porto, Jerry Kinney, Mary Koziol, January Kristine, Kate Laing, Jean Mason, Cindy Rae Mathiasen, Emily Mohr, Sarah Parys, Tess E Petersen, Kristae Peterson, Bryan Raymundo, Makenzie Raymundo, Jill Rizzo, Bruce Thiel, Kathleen Van Lieu, Bart Vargas, Brian Wetjen, and Samantha Wicht.
The show brings Omaha-based artists working across media into conversation about what it means to make work at this current juncture, in this particular place. The works featured are as diverse as the artists who make up the vibrant tapestry of the city. Rather than a shared theme or viewpoint, they’re united by the clarity of their distinct visions. Some of the works on view take the outside world as inspiration, with landscapes that capture nature’s changeable moods and ephemeral beauty. Others wrest pattern from the realm of flat abstraction, suggesting its tactile possibilities, or move off the wall entirely. “Cross Current” tests what happens when these vibrant, eclectic approaches to making are placed in dialogue.
